It’s a bit daunting out there searching online for a local virtual assistant.
But the clue is in the title, why go local? A VA will work remotely from anywhere so give yourself a better choice range, although UK based would be a good starting point.
The key thing is that you have chemistry from that very first introduction.
Have a good look through their website first to get a feel for the services they offer. Do you get a good feeling?
Should a VA charge for an introduction call?
A good VA will always suggest a zoom call in the first instance to make sure that you both click. And no they should not be charging for that introduction, normally 30mins is enough time to meet and get a feel for what the client wants and what the VA can offer.
Before any intro call/zoom, make a list that you can tick off –

- Do we have chemistry?
- Do they come across as caring and genuine?
- Have I explained the tasks I would like them to do?
- Have they confirmed that they are able to do those tasks?
- Have they discussed how many hours per week/month they can offer?
- Do I know their payment options?
- Do I need to sign a contract?
- Do they have good reviews?
- Will my data be secure?
And most importantly is this someone I would feel comfortable working with?
Don’t feel like you have to agree to hire them there and then, suss out their website a bit more and sleep on it. Take an email address for anything that you wish to ask after the meeting.
Then if you are feeling happy and confident to proceed in hiring your VA, why not go with the lowest package they offer to start off with, and grow and build trust from there.
And yes you may need to meet a few VA’s before finding your perfect match, but it will be so worth it when you meet that VA that just completely gets you!
